This board tracks the storm systems, hail outbreaks, hurricanes, and straight-line wind events, that PPB Roofs And Restoration has been inspecting roofs for across Richmond, Houston, Sugar Land, Katy, Cypress, and the rest of Fort Bend County. If a storm crossed your neighborhood recently, whether or not you've noticed a leak yet, it's worth checking your roof against it. We cross-reference every inspection against NOAA storm reports for the date and location, so the claim we help you file is backed by more than a homeowner's memory of the weather.
This part of the Gulf Coast runs through two active windows every year: spring hail season, roughly March through May, when supercells move through Fort Bend and Waller counties, and hurricane season, June through November, when tropical systems off the Gulf bring straight-line wind and wind-driven rain. Hurricane Beryl in July 2024 is a recent example that generated roof claims across the entire metro, including homes that showed no visible damage from the street. If a storm has moved through your area in either window, a free inspection tells you where you stand before a filing deadline does it for you.
Storm Seasons We Track
Storm Windows Across the Houston Metro
Spring Hail Season (March to May)
Supercells moving through Fort Bend and Waller counties produce the highest hail volume of the year, often with bruising that doesn't show from the ground.
Hurricane Season (June to November)
Gulf systems bring sustained wind, wind-driven rain, and occasional embedded tornadoes. Hurricane Beryl in July 2024 is the most recent metro-wide example.
Straight-Line Wind Events
Frontal passages outside of hurricane season can produce sudden 60+ mph gusts that lift shingles and ridge caps without a named storm attached.

Granule loss in the gutters, dented AC fins, or lifted shingle tabs are common signs even without an active leak.
