A professional roof inspection is free when you call PPB Roofs And Restoration at (832) 386-9606. We climb your roof, photograph every problem area, measure hail strikes, check flashing, valleys, pipe boots, and ridge vents, and hand you a documented report you can actually use with your insurance company. That report is what separates a denied claim from an approved one. Most homeowners don't know the damage is there until water's already inside. We find it first.

Our inspections cover shingle granule loss, bruising from hail impact, wind-lifted tabs, cracked caulking at penetrations, and sagging decking beneath the surface. We also check gutters and fascia while we're up there, because water damage rarely stays on the roof alone. What drives the scope of any inspection is the age of the roof, the storm history at your address, and how accessible your roof planes are. There's no charge for the inspection itself. If we find damage that warrants a roof repair or a full roof replacement, we'll explain exactly what we saw, show you the photos, and walk you through your options. Every job is different, contact PPB Roofs And Restoration for an accurate estimate on any follow-up work.

WHAT WE CHECK

What a PPB Roof Inspection Covers

We don't walk the perimeter and call it done: we put someone on every accessible roof plane.

01

Shingle Condition

We check for granule loss, blistering, cracking, and cupping. Granule loss from a hail event looks different from UV deterioration, and the distinction matters to your adjuster. We photograph and note both.

02

Hail and Wind Damage

Hail bruises the mat beneath a shingle without always punching through. We use chalk and a soft probe to find those soft spots, mark them, and photograph them at close range for the insurance report.

03

Flashings and Penetrations

Step flashing at walls, counter flashing at chimneys, pipe boots around plumbing vents. These are where most leaks start. We inspect and photograph every penetration and check for cracked caulking or lifted metal.

04

Valleys and Ridge

Open valleys collect debris and concentrate water runoff. We check for cracking, lifting at the edges, and granule washout. The ridge cap is the last line of defense against wind-driven rain, we inspect every linear foot of it.

05

Gutters and Fascia

Gutters hold granule deposits after a hail event. That's physical evidence we capture in photos. We also check fascia boards for rot and gutter hangers for separation, since those problems compound fast in Houston's rain season.

06

Decking and Attic

Where access allows, we check the attic for daylight penetration, moisture staining on sheathing, and proper ventilation. Sagging decking beneath the shingles is a structural issue that changes the repair scope entirely.

Our Process

After the Inspection: What Happens Next

  1. We Document Everything

Photos, measurements, and written notes for every problem area. You get a report that's ready to submit to your insurance carrier.

  2. We Walk You Through It

AJ or a project manager reviews every finding with you on-site. No roofing jargon, no pressure. Just what we saw and what it means for your home.

  3. We Help With the Claim

If the damage qualifies, we coordinate with your adjuster, attend the insurance inspection, and push back if the initial scope is short. We've helped homeowners get claims approved that were initially denied.

INSURANCE RESULTS

We Guarantee to Get Your Insurance Rate Down on Qualifying Damage

An insurance denial document stamped in red, shown in a business setting with a professional reviewing paperwork.

That's not a sales line. It's a commitment we put in writing.

If your address has verified hail or wind damage on storm reports and the inspection confirms it on your roof, we guarantee to get your home insurance rate reduced. That's a specific promise tied to a specific condition. Not a vague offer to 'help with your claim.' We've walked homeowners through arbitration when their initial claim went sideways. Carol Sumrall's claim is a good example: multiple other contractors couldn't get it done, and we stayed with the process until it was approved. We won't promise a result we can't deliver, but when the storm data and the physical damage line up, we know how to use that. If you think a recent storm may have hit your roof, read our guide on how to document roof storm damage before your adjuster arrives.

  • PPB Roof and Restoration were excellent on my roof replacement. They were not high pressure, nor did they try to up-sell on products I didn’t need. Their prices were more than fair. The entire process was easy and very straightforward. They completed our entire roof in one day. David my project manager and AJ the owner were both very helpful and responsive. We are very happy with the results and strongly recommend the company.

  • Ayden Diaz and Prime Property Builders offered a complimentary inspection of my roof when they were doing some repairs in my neighborhood. They were nice and honest. They did not find much problem with my roof except normal wears and some nail holes. They came back the other day and caulked the holes for free to prevent possible leaking as heavy rains forecasted to come next day! I do appreciate their honest, consideration, and community spirit! I would do business with them in the future.

  • I was approached by several other roofing companies that did not help with my insurance claim. So, when AJ Diaz stopped by, it was difficult to believe that he would be different. However, he was very knowledgeable about the entire insurance process and about roofing products, so I let him start the process. I am very happy that I did. He walked me through every step of the process and kept me informed of where my claim stood and what I needed to do next. He was on-site during the insurance company inspection and helped me find an independent inspector when my claim went to arbitration. He was happy to take the time to answer all my many many questions. Once my claim was finally approved, he helped me select roofing products that were best for my house, had a good quality guarantee, and the color that I wanted. He was able to explain the difference in the products and how they were installed. So, I feel like I made an informed decision. I also had gutters replaced that made everything look so good with the new roof. See the pictures! AJ was also on-site during the installation and came back afterwards to make sure I was happy. I am so happy by the way everything turned out. I highly recommend him and his company.

From initial consultation through project completion, the entire process was managed with professionalism, efficiency, and attention to detail. What distinguished their service was the level of support provided after the installation. I would confidently recommend their services to anyone in Katy or the greater Houston area seeking high-quality roofing solutions and reliable, customer-focused service.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Roof Inspection Questions, Answered Straight

Still have a question?

Ask the team directly. We pick up, and a straight answer costs nothing.

How much does a roof inspection cost with PPB?
Nothing. Our inspections are free. We climb the roof, document what we find, and give you a written report at no charge. If we find damage that warrants repair or replacement, we'll explain the scope and provide a proposal. You're not obligated to proceed, and we won't pressure you.
What does a roof inspection report include?
Ours includes close-up photographs of every problem area, chalk measurements of hail impact zones, written notes on shingle condition, flashing integrity, gutter findings, and any visible decking concerns. It's formatted to be submitted directly to your insurance carrier. Most inspection reports from other contractors don't go that deep.
How do I know if my roof actually has hail damage?
Honestly, most homeowners can't tell by looking from the ground. Hail damage bruises the shingle mat beneath the surface, the impact site looks dull, slightly soft when probed, and loses granules in a circular pattern. It doesn't always crack or punch through. That's why a trained eye with a probe and a camera matters. We cross-reference what we find with storm reports for your address.
Can a roof inspection trigger an insurance claim?
An inspection itself doesn't trigger anything. What triggers a claim is submitting documentation of damage to your carrier. We don't file anything without your authorization. We give you the report, explain what we found, and let you decide whether to proceed. If a storm hit your area, a dedicated storm damage assessment builds the documentation your adjuster needs. If you do proceed, we coordinate the claim with you. We don't hand you a stack of forms and disappear.
How long does a roof inspection take?
For a standard single-family home, typically 30 to 60 minutes on the roof plus another 10 to 15 minutes to walk you through the findings. Larger homes, complex rooflines, or roofs with multiple penetrations and dormers take longer. We don't rush it. A missed flashing failure costs you later, and that's not a result either of us wants.
Should I get a roof inspection before listing my house for sale?
Yes, and sooner than you think. A buyer's inspector will flag every visible deficiency, which gives the buyer negotiating leverage. If you know what's wrong before you list, you can repair it on your terms, price accordingly, or disclose it without surprise. A pre-listing inspection from PPB takes the guesswork out of that conversation. We can also pair an inspection with a roof tune-up if the findings are minor.
Why do roofing companies keep calling me about roof inspections after a storm?
Storm chasers use NOAA data and permit records to target neighborhoods after hail events. Some are legitimate; many are out-of-state contractors who move on after the storm season. PPB is based in Fort Bend County and has been serving this area since 2020. We're here after the storm and after the repair. That's the difference you're looking for.
